Yen Agustin

About Film Photography Design

Yen is a visual artist whose photography explores the performance of inanimate objects and the manufactured environment. Drawing from the traditions of Still Life, she examines how objects carry traces of the people who create and interact with them. From her experience in scenic design, carpentry, and prop making, she has garnered a fascination for the role objects play in both function and expression. In an age where the man-made has become part of the overlooked background for the human, she highlights the tension between mass industrialization's push for uniformity and the natural impulse for humans to leave our personal mark. Through her work, Yen hopes to encourage viewers in holding intention when looking, consuming, and creating. She received her BA in Media with a Minor in Film Studies at UC San Diego and is currently a Performance Studies MA candidate at New York University.
